A couple of years ago I started making most of the cleaning products I use in the house. It just makes sense. The fumes are much less caustic and they are way more economical. This one smells faintly of alcohol, so you know it is killing germs.
I've tried tons of home made cleaners, but this is the one I consistently use. It is an all purpose and glass cleaner that works on glass, tile, bath fixtures, the kitchen sink, appliances - basically any hard surface.
Mine is mixed in a Cranberry juice bottle that holds about 64 oz - you know the size. This costs pennies and does the job of several types of cleaning products.
All Purpose Cleaner
1/4 cup ammonia
1 cup rubbing alcohol
1 tsp. Blue Dawn
Water to fill a 64 oz. container
Measure the alcohol and ammonia in a glass measuring cup, then pour into the big bottle. Add a teaspoon of Blue Dawn dishwashing liquid. You can use any dish soap, but I use Dawn in several different cleaning recipes. It gives it a nice color and has grease cutting power.
Fill the container full of water and shake gently to mix.
Pour into a spray bottle to use.
